Conifer and the Portland, Maine Guitar Army ... In recent news within the war against anthropocentrism, Conifer has announced a grand recording project in the works intended to be released as a three-way band split CD/DVD. The record, entitled Developer, was brainstormed by Portland, Maine`s recording engineers Marc and Gina Bartholomew of Bandsaw Recordings as a collaborative endeavor to document three Portland bands with the mission for each to write/record a 15 minute long song at various hijacked locations near or within the Casco Bay harbor, complete with a documentary being shot of the entire production to be released by Portland’s Viking Ninja School Records. The first band, Moneycastasia (including Conifer member Leif Sherman Curtis), recorded their composition inside the Civil War era Fort Gorges. Accessible only by boat and at the mercy of the rising tides, the gypsy-prog outfit finished in one day’s time. The following morning, Seekonk (Kimchee Records) began they’re session on Peak’s Island inside the cavernous World War II bunker Battery Steele (containing inside an eighth mile long under ground service tunnel). Conifer is scheduled to record during the first week of October inside of the empty No. 2 heating fuel tank silo in South Portland’s Oil Tank Farm. With the recruitment of two more members to the band (featuring Eric Brackett of Ocean on drums and Bob Smyth on textures) now bringing the total count to six, and guest musicians adding cello, violin, and various other phantoms, this project is easily one of the most ambitious endeavors yet for the band. Oh hail thy murderous reverb! And from thee which born in deafness shall prevail! Check out the split comrades here: www.seekonkmusic.com www.myspace.com/moneycastasia www.coniferkills.com
