I need to replace the ones in there now and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there are any substantial differences among tubes? I've heard that EL84s are really good but I'm not sure that they'll fit, I hear you need some kind of converter kit? |

| _____________________________________ [Mar 9,2004 5:47pm - diamond_dave ""] any time you replace the tubes, the head has to be re-biased regardless if you're putting the same type back in or not. 6L6's run really hot, they'd probably sound neat in a 5150. that's what comes stock in the peavey XXX's and they're actually too hot. the clean channel is never totally clean at moderate volume. EL34's are a little less gain-y with a little more clarity. |
