| ___________________________________ [Mar 22,2009 4:49pm - dreadkill ""] i'm listening to crack the skye for the first time right now. one of my friends who loves mastodon told me last night that he couldn't get into it. i'm three songs in and it's not as bad as i thought it was going to be. i actually kind of like it so far. lifesblood and remission are my favorites by them. i liked leviathan and didn't really get into blood mountain. i thought the vocals were going to suck, but i think some of them are good on the new one. vocals have never really been mastodon's focus and while i think the vocals on crack the skye have more dimension and variety, i think they are trying to steal the focus from the music. i'm with everyone who is disappointed by the drumming. there's not really any frenetic, creative drumming on this album so far, which i always considered one of the strongest points of the band. |
